Case Study Details
The KETV Channel 7 News Station in Omaha, Nebraska, underwent a targeted drainage improvement project as part of a larger transformation of the historic Burlington Station into a state-of-the-art media facility. To protect its precast retaining walls and concrete barriers, JET Filter System provided maintainable weep hole drains as the hydrostatic pressure relief system and ensure long-term infrastructure stability. Products Used
- 6 units of JET Filter – JF3SS: 3″ Diameter Open End Maintainable Weep Hole Filter, featuring ASTM 316/316L Stainless Steel Housing and Mirafi® Filter-Weave FW 300 Geotextile Filter Media.
Solutions
As Burlington Station was transformed into the KETV studio, precast retaining wall drainage became a concern. Without a proper drainage system, hydrostatic pressure, soil erosion, and structural movement could threaten the long-term integrity of the facility. With this in mind, engineers at Lamp Rynearson specified JET Filter maintainable weep holes to prevent water buildup and extend the functionality of the precast wall system. MCL Construction installed 6 JF3SS stainless steel maintainable weep hole drains into the reinforced concrete barriers. These components were chosen for their durability, inspectability, and performance under variable weather conditions in the Midwest.
