Steel Sheet Piling Drainage | Atlantic Highlands NJ Project

In Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, a newly installed steel sheet piling wall was outfitted with a maintainable drainage system to protect the structure and surrounding landscape from erosion and hydrostatic buildup. The project, located at 17 Avenue D, involved the installation of 70 JET Filter weep hole assemblies and was completed by Nuccio Construction, LLC.

Project Background

Steel sheet piling is a common choice for retaining walls in urban and waterfront settings due to its strength and space-saving footprint. However, without effective drainage:

  • Hydrostatic pressure can build up behind the wall

  • Soil loss and erosion compromise long-term stability

  • Walls can shift, lean, or even fail prematurely

To mitigate these risks, JET Filter System weep holes were specified and installed to deliver relief from trapped groundwater and allow for sediment filtration.
