DRAINAGE DESIGN CASE STUDY:
Lake Park Marina Concrete Seawall Repair | JET Filter Solution
The installation of 14 JET Filter 4-inch open-end stainless steel maintainable drains at Lake Park Marina stabilized the seawall, prevented soil loss, and ensured long-term sidewalk and infrastructure integrity.

Seawall Drainage System Dilemma
By 2013, the Lake Park Marina seawall repair in Palm Beach, Florida, experienced severe soil loss behind the seawall, causing sidewalks to buckle and fail. The Palm Beach marina project’s concrete seawall, meant to protect the marina, lacked an adequate concrete seawall drainage solution – leading to hydrostatic pressure buildup that compromised structural stability.
Without a sustainable seawall drainage system, continuous erosion behind the seawall could lead to further infrastructure failure, increased maintenance costs, and safety concerns for marina visitors.
To prevent these issues, the Town of Lake Park sought a proven, maintainable drainage solution to preserve the integrity of the seawall and protect the surrounding infrastructure with seawall erosion control.
Solution
To restore stability and prevent further soil loss, the project implemented:
✅ Installation of 14 JET Filter 4-inch open-end stainless steel maintainable drains.
✅ Mirafi® Filter-Weave FW 300 geotextile media to prevent clogging and soil migration.
✅ Maintainable drainage system, allowing long-term performance monitoring.
JET Filter’s advanced drainage technology provided an effective solution to hydrostatic pressure management, seawall erosion control, and preventing excessive water buildup behind the seawall. This concrete seawall drainage solution extended the seawall’s lifespan, stabilized the marina’s infrastructure, and minimized ongoing maintenance needs.
The project was successfully executed by Sea Me Dive, ensuring strict compliance with best engineering practices for marine drainage solutions.
